Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Overview

Sieve ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We built Sieve to help you understand legal documents — not to harvest your data.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address.

Scan data. When you scan a document via the extension or web app, we store the URL, risk score, rating, and flagged issues. We do not store the full text of scanned documents.

Billing information. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Usage data. We collect basic usage information such as pages visited and features used, to improve the product.

What we don't collect

We do not collect or store the full text of documents you scan. We do not track your browsing history beyond what is needed to provide the service. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide and improve the Sieve service, to process payments, to send you important account notifications, and to respond to support requests.

We do not use your information for advertising purposes.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Anthropic — AI-powered plain English explanations (premium only)
  • Resend — transactional email
  • Vercel — hosting

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page, which will permanently remove all your data from our systems.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can do this directly from your account settings, or by contacting us at riverjonesgardner@hotmail.com.

If you are in the EU or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Cookies

We use cookies only for authentication purposes — to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
